The first half of the slow film and the late half of the intense film

It should be noted, yes, The Mauritanian is a film with a fairly slow pace of the story, especially in the first half of the film. As a drama film about legality, The Mauritanian focuses more on dialogue and building empathy, so that the audience can really feel all the hardships experienced by Slahi.

Although it may not be suitable for all audiences, the use of a slow pace in the first half of The Mauritaian is actually the right treatment for this film. Slahi's suffering and the inner conflict that Hollander experienced were really conveyed clearly and made the audience drift away. Once in the final half of The Mauritaian , the pace of the film starts to feel faster and more intense.

When you enter the final half of The Mauritanian , you will see how tortured Slahi endured while in Guantanamo Prison. The torture displayed looks quite disturbing and will certainly make you more sympathetic to the figure of Slahi in real life. In fact, there are some scenes that can make you feel suffocated, as if you were part of Slahi's torture.

Tahar Rahim's performance as Slahi is so slick

The Mauritanian Via Istimewa movie review

The Mauritanian stars quite a number of well-known Hollywood actors, including Jodie Foster, Shailene Woodley, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Zachary Levi. The appearance of the four actors certainly does not need to be doubted. But among all, the appearance of Tahar Rahim, who plays Slahi, stole the most attention.

For information, Rahim is a French actor of Algerian descent. Director Kevin Macdonald was quite brilliant in choosing Rahim because the actor has a face that is quite similar to Slahi. Rahim's face which is similar to Slahi is further enhanced by the actor's acting who really stands out in The Mauritanian .

Rahim's best performance was when Slahi was tortured at Guantanamo Prison. Slahi was beaten, psychologically tortured, sexually abused, until her family was threatened. All this was done by the guards at Guantanamo Prison so that Slahi would admit to what he had not done. The scene of Slahi's torture can make you more and more fed up with the legal injustices that still often occur today.

The Mauritanian is a film that shows an example of a dilapidated legal justice that still happens to this day. This film seems to be a warning that there are still many people out there who are struggling to get their freedom. Interestingly, this film closes with various footage showing Slahi's life in the real world.
